Todd Andrew Wilson, age 46, passed away suddenly at his home in Highlands Ranch, Colorado on Saturday, July 16, 2022, from a combination of hypertensive cardiovascular disease, a history of asthma, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, and C.R.P.S./Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.
Todd was born in Greeley, Colorado on Wednesday, February 25, 1976 to Mike Wilson and Patricia (Jordan) Wilson. Todd graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1994. In his teenage years, he realized one of his goals by working hard and achieving a Second-Degree black belt in Taekwondo. In his late teens, while visiting an uncle in California, Todd bordered on achieving a personal dream of becoming a comedian when he performed a confident 15-minute set at the “Laugh Factory” in Los Angeles. The staff saw real talent in him and extended a weekly invitation for him to hone his skill at “Open Mic Night”. Unfortunately, Todd was visiting L.A. and could not accept the invitation. During his twenty’s, Todd proudly earned membership into the UPA (United Pool Players Association) and achieved recognition by the UPA as a professional touring pool player. At the time he passed away, he held a current rank/standing in the UPA. For years, he was a Certified Subaru Master Mechanic and found gratification and enjoyment from “turning wrenches”. In the latter portion of Todd’s work life, he loved his job as a Certified Asset Recovery Specialist where he executed repossessions for banks. The company he worked for recognized his outstanding achievements by rewarding him with a monogrammed jacket and then featured him in an asset recovery industry magazine article that depicted Todd’s “above and beyond” job performance and accomplishments. Unfortunately, in late August of 2015, Todd suffered an on-the-job injury while working as an Asset Recovery Specialist and, consequently, had to apply for Workman’s Compensation, Social Security Disability and Medicare. His injury developed into C.R.P.S (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), an excruciating, incurable, rare, and debilitating pain disease. In the last seven years, he suffered daily with continuous agonizing pain and declining health. Worthy of note is that Todd’s struggles with his incurable pain disease heightened his compassion for homeless people and for those who are in need; he tried to help them out whenever he could. His empathy for their day-to-day strife was sincere – he never met a stranger!
His son, Kylen was the absolute pride and joy of Todd’s life!! Todd always said that his love for Kylen is what kept him motivated to get through the exceptionally long days of the persistent pain… he strived to stay alive to see what the future held in store for his son. Unfortunately, that was not to be. However, days before he passed away, Todd did get to read a letter sent to Kylen from Arapahoe Community College praising him for his outstanding academic performance for the Spring 2022 semester; the letter also informed Kylen that he made the Dean’s List. This academic honor will be part of Kylen’s official college transcript. Sadly, Todd never got to know that Kylen received notice in August from the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) that their organization is recognizing Kylen as an exemplary student who has exceeded the criteria for membership in their honor society and they are inviting him to join as a Presidential member. Todd would have been extremely proud that his son is paving a path for himself that is leading towards a successful future.
Todd is survived by his son, Kylen Andrew Wilson of Centennial, CO; his parents, Richard and Patricia “Pat” Laughlin of Highlands Ranch, CO, Mike “Woody” and Penny Wilson of Timnath, CO; his two brothers and their spouses, Troy and Tina Wilson of Parker, CO, and Zach and Laura Wilson and their two daughters, Luna and Soleil Wilson of Fort Collins, CO; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his wonderful companion and service/comfort dog, Dori. A Celebration of Todd’s Life will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 12:00pm with close family members.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Todd’s name to the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA/ rsds.org ).
