Toni Marie Ricks

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Toni Marie Ricks, who left this world on January 27, 2025, at the age of 55, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 30, 1969, in Denver, Colorado, Toni was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, who touched the lives of many with her kindness and unwavering spirit.

Toni was the cherished daughter of Violet Dianne Taylor, Anthony Jefferson Ricks & stepfather Zet Taylor Jr. Growing up in Denver, she was surrounded by a loving family, including her siblings Matthew Ricks, Andres Ricks, Chiffon Ricks, Kimberly Ricks, and Penny Ricks, as well as her sister Carrie Taylor. Toni took great pride in being an aunt to a flock of nieces and nephews, each of whom she adored dearly.

A proud graduate of Manual High School, Toni furthered her education at Metropolitan State University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. She continued her academic journey at Concordia University in Irvine, California, obtaining a Master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration. Her dedication to education exemplified her passion for learning and helping others.

Throughout her career, Toni made significant contributions to her community. She worked as a cashier/manager at King Soopers for over 20 years, providing exemplary service with her characteristic compassion and warmth. She also served as a probation officer and paraeducator, playing a vital role in the lives of countless individuals. Additionally, Toni was a devoted coach, sharing her love for sports as a girls' and boys' high school basketball coach and a boys' high school football coach. Her influence extended far beyond the field, as she inspired young athletes to pursue their dreams with resilience and strength.

Toni was deeply involved in her community and has been a proud member of the Guardian Angel Organization since March 20, 1993. She also found joy in coaching the Montebello Falcon football team, where she nurtured talent and fostered teamwork among her players.

A passionate collector, Toni had a particular fondness for Denver Broncos merchandise and cherished her collections of baseball and basketball cards, Star Wars memorabilia, and Funk Pops, including her beloved Baby Yoda. Her enthusiasm for college and professional football was infectious, and she enjoyed sharing these passions with family and friends.

Toni was known for her compassionate, silly, courageous, and resilient nature. Her loving and supportive personality left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She approached life with a strength that inspired those around her, and her caring heart will be profoundly missed.

In this time of sorrow, Toni's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Jessica, Yogi, and friends for their unwavering support during this difficult journey. Your kindness has transformed the circle of friendship into a forever family, and your love has profoundly touched our hearts.

Toni Marie Ricks will forever be remembered as a loving sister, devoted aunt, and a beacon of light in the lives of many. Her legacy of compassion, strength, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew her.

May she rest in eternal peace with her beloved dog Mijet.
