Englewood

It is with profound sadness that the family of Toni Faith Romero, nee Shockey, announces her passing on April 18, 2025, at the age of 70, in Englewood, Colorado. She passed surrounded by her loving family. Toni Faith Romero, beloved wife of 52 years to Abe Romero and mother to Fina Romero, was born in Denver, Colorado on February 4, 1955 and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family. She found joy in teaching traveling, and cooking and always had a warm smile and a listening ear for everyone.

Toni spent her early years in Denver, Colorado where she excelled in art, ran track and played all girl football with her friends. She was raised by her mother, whom she loved dearly, along side her many brothers and sisters.

She met the love of her life, Abe, right after he returned from service in Vietnam. The two were then married in 1973 and had 52 wonderful years together. She then went on to the University of Colorado at Denver where she pursued her degree in Education. The school offered an accelerated program through Loretta Heights College where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1986.

Soon after, she had her only child, Fina, whom she constantly told that she loved her “more than anything in this whole, wide, world.”

She was the best mother, selfless and patient, determined and loving.

Toni loved spending time with her husband and daughter, finding and trying out new recipes, seeing new exhibits at local museums and observing new life at various aquariums.

Toni also enjoyed spending time with her numerous nieces and nephews, always helping them with one thing or another, taking them on trips and making sure that they had good memories.

As far as her career went, she was a wonderful teacher. She inspired the next generation of young minds, many of whom credit her with their lifelong love of learning. She made teacher of the year many times and in 2007 was presented the award of “Mile High Teacher” by then Mayor John Hickenlooper.

She had a unique, beautiful spirit, and the outpouring of love and support by those people whose lives she touched is a testament to her extraordinary presence in the world. She will be missed by all of us.

Toni is survived by her husband Abe, her daughter Fina; her sisters Lucy, Annetta, Alvina; brothers Roy, Solomon, Steven, and Abie. She has numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents: mother Josephine and Father Manuel; brothers George David, and Richard; Sisters Alice, Amanda, and Alberta; numerous Aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
