Tony, 93, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2018. Tony was born on February 21, 1925, in Welby, Colorado to Joe and Jenny Spano, immigrants from Palermo, Sicily in 1923.
Â
Tony, who became deaf at an early age, attended the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he was a star athlete. He worked on his father's farm before entering into the greenhouse business with his brother-in-law Don Rody (Rody-Spano Greenhouses). Tony and Margaret were married for 38 years (1966 until her death in 2004). Tony and Margaret enjoyed family vacations and were active in the Denver deaf community. Always proud of both his sons, Tony was overjoyed to have two beautiful granddaughters, Caitlin and Meghan. His many friends and family were always the priority in life, where his love, dedication, and devotion touched so many. After residing in Arvada for many years, he spent the last seven years at Broomfield Skilled Nursing; Tony always appreciated and enjoyed the staff that were kind and caring. He spent hours with puzzles and loved playing bingo and blackjack. We will all miss him dearly.
Â
Tony is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; son, Frank; brother, Phil Spano; and sisters, Marietta Rody and Rose Larusso. He is survived by his son, Tony, Jr. (Brian Padgett); sisters, Carmella Calabrese, Ann Smith (Kenny), Lena Saccomano; brother-in-law, Don Rody; granddaughters, Caitlin and Meghan Spano; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
