Ulrich ""Ulli"" Eckert was born in Stuttgart, Germany, on December 4, 1944, to Kurt and Therese ""Resi"" Eckert. He lived in Germany, attending school in Berchesgarten where he was an avid skier and mountain climber. He served in NATO forces in France before moving to America in the late 1960's. Ulli and Gail married February 14, 1985 and son Andrew was born in December of 1989. Ulli loved people, travel, cooking, gardening, reading, and especially his dogs, and had an amazing ability to somehow incorporate a history lesson into the middle of the most mundane conversations. What was special about Ulli was his noticing the beauty in the ordinary things of life and the frequent, small kindnesses he did for others. He has two sisters and brother-in-laws, Ulrike and Wolfgang Sachsenmair, and Ute and Christoph Freiman, niece Alexa Sachsenmair, daughter Christi Kuhn, son-in-law Georg and granddaughter Hannah, step-mother Nancy, brothers Johann and Ali, mother-in-law Lois Greenway and sister-in-law, Beth Greenway. Also significant in his life was his close friend Roy Merrill, his late father-in-law John Greenway, Tom Baker, Hank and Joan Riffe, and their extended family. He especially valued all his friends and family. We thank you all for loving him back and for your support and prayers.
