Valerie Louise Shockley

Valerie Shockley passed away at the age of 59 on January 17, 2017. She was born on October 31, 1957 in Topeka, Kansas to Edmund and Elsie Shaw. Val is survived by her loving family and friends including; Husband, Derek Shockley; Father, Edmund Shaw (and wife Connie); Children, Jake Shockley (and wife Amy) and Jessica Okumus (and husband Enis); Granddaughter, Almira Okumus; three siblings; and Parents in Law Bob and Geri Shockley. She was preceded in death by her mother Elsie. Val was a loving wife and mother who cared for all of her family and friends. She was a selfless person whom many would turn to for guidance. Val was extremely creative and artistic and will always be remembered for her home sewn gifts, mittens and Halloween costumes. Friends and family are invited to attend the services which will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 4th at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel in Topeka, KS.
