Vanessa Jean Hurlbert passed away at the age of 44, unexpectedly on June 10, 2018 in her home in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Vanessa was born on March 16, 1974, in Harlingen, TX. Vanessa finished high school and spent time in the Job Corps in Montana. After graduation, and not happy to stay stagnate, she moved back to Colorado to enjoy time with her family. After some time she married the love of her life, Jason Hurlbert on November 22, 2003. Soon after, they welcomed their first child, Jacob Hurlbert in 2004. Anyone who knew Vanessa, would describe her as a strong woman with a great attitude and a love for life. She made you feel like you were the most cared for person imaginable. Her heart was genuine and she created a life of happiness, despite her many trials and tribulations. As humans, we have obstacles in life that define us. Vanessa met her obstacles head on. Beginning with early onset diabetes, mourning the loss of her infant child, surviving a 4 year battle of breast cancer and through it all, maintaining composure, class and most importantly, the strength to carry on every day. Vanessa is survived by her husband, Jason Hurlbert; parents, Gustavo & Angie Perez, Mother-in-law (mom 2), Ruth Hastings; father-in-law, Clark Hurlbert; siblings, Edward Perez, Sheila Gaddie and Mark Perez; brother-in-law, Justin Hurlbert, a huge extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Vanessa is preceded in death by her son, Jacob Hurlbert, grandparents, Francisco & Adela Rodriguez, Lorenzo & Luz Perez. A memorial service will held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10:00am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church (13120 East Kentucky Avenue, Aurora, CO 80012) In lieu of flowers, Vanessaâs family is requesting donations be made in her honor to the Childrenâs Diabetes Foundation @ childrensdiabetesfoundation.org.
