Vasta "Gene" Phillips

Vasta “Gene” Phillips, 93, went Home to be with her beloved Lord on November 5, 2020 in the loving hands of Suncrest Hospice, Littleton, CO. Cause of death, “I am 93 and many things quit working”.

Born December 26, 1926 in Brunswick NE, Gene enjoyed life in Sioux City IA, Aurora CO, Denver CO, Honolulu HI and finally Lakewood CO. She lived the last 24 years in Eaton Senior Communities.

Gene’s work history is long and varied, Firestone Warehouse (secretary), H. Salt Esquire Fish & Chips in Hawaii (owned by Gene and Wayne), DLB trucking (secretary) and various small trucking operations, part-time church secretary, and last was her favorite job, Chief Accountant at Masterpiece Cakeshop working with family. Gene retired from “work” at age 89.

She loved people and volunteered anytime someone was needed: at her Senior Residence or Church. She was active in her Caring Connection Group, Missionary Group, Bible Study Group, Share and Prayer Group, reading to low vision friends and neighbors.

She loved her Bible; she read it every day. She knew it was Truth, and it gave her answers and strength throughout all the years. Along with spending time in the Word, everyday she took time to pray for her family, for friends, and for people around the world.

Gene was preceded in death by her loving husband Wayne Glenn Phillips, August 26, 1996 and her infant son Carroll Wayne Phillips, August 8, 1948.

Her treasures were her 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
