Vel Garcia Romero

Vel Ilene Garcia Romero, age 72, died in Thornton Colorado on August 31, 2022.

Vel was born in Greeley Colorado and then moved to Northglenn Colorado after high school. She was a cosmetologist for over 50 years and was adored by all her clients. Vel was very close to her sister, Rita Rucobo and loved spending time with her family. She was her grandson’s biggest fan and attended as many of his baseball and football games as she could.

Vel married Joe LeRoy Romero on October 4th, 2004, and they spent 18 wonderful years together. Vel is survived by her husband Joe LeRoy Romero, son Chad Garcia, grandchildren Nicholas Garcia, Jazylnn Vila, Hope Sailas, siblings Rita Rucobo (husband Char Rucobo), Dorothy Rodman (husband Bill Rodman) and Steve Garcia, along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and two stepdaughters. Those she’ll meet in heaven include her parents Mr. and Mrs. Tito Garcia and siblings Josie Garcia, Sophia Rojas and Butter Garcia.

Her legacy will live on in the many hearts and lives she touched.

A rosary and viewing will be held at Horan & McConaty in Thornton Colorado on September 14th, 2022, with a public viewing from 3PM-6PM and the rosary following. Funeral services will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Northglenn Colorado on September 15th, 2022, at 11AM with the burial following at Broomfield County Commons Cemetery. A reception will follow at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
