Vera Joyce Bourgeous, 90, passed away October 15, 2015 in Parker, Colorado. She was born August 30, 1925 in Neola, Missouri to Samuel Grant and Lula Marie Martin Hughes. Joyce spent her early years in the rural farming community of Neola, just a few miles north of Greenfield. At age 8 she moved with the family to Arizona, where she graduated from high school. It was here that she met Banks Bourgeous and they were married January 3, 1942. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joyce was a career bookkeeper and office manager, including a 19 year stint (age 66-85) at the Greenfield Insurance office of Ronald and Mary McConnell. In 2010 she moved to Parker, Colorado, living with her daughter Pam and family. At the time of her passing she resided at the Crown Crest of Parker Nursing home. Among her many passions were numerous trips and cruises with her sister Lorene; visiting her children and grandchildren; and reading. Joyce is survived by three of her six children, Clarence Grant Bourgeous (wife, Robin); Pamela Joyce Moser (husband, Craig), Lynett Marie Bourgeous (husband, Michael); and daughter-in-law, Kathy Bourgeous; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Lorene Stapp (husband, Ken); and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Banks Bourgeous; children, Dale Bourgeous, Wayne Bourgeous and Lyle Bourgeous; siblings, Bernice Marshall, Martin Hughes and Thomas Hughes; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Ryan Bourgeous. A public viewing will begin at 12 noon, followed by a service at 1:30 pm, on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at the Greenfield Funeral Chapel, 61 North Allison, Greenfield, Missouri 65661. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Greenfield, Missouri.
