Vera Mae Patten

September 4, 1940 — February 28, 2007

Vera Mae (Kutschinske) Patten went home to be with her Lord on February 28, 2007. Born September 4, 1940 to Gus and Emma (Radke) Kutschinske in Fargo, ND. She lived and attended school in Oakes, ND. Following high school graduation, Vera attended the Wahpeton School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for many years in Grand Forks, ND, Minneapolis, MN, and Hettinger, ND before moving to Colorado where she continued nursing. Vera was united in marriage to Ernest Roder in 1962 and was widowed following Ernest's death to cancer in 1963. In 1964 she was united in marriage to Lynn Patten with whom she shared three children. She was a member of Business Professional Women, Hospital Auxiliary and many church organizations and bowling leagues. She was also a Boy and Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed her grandchildren, puzzles, bowling, reading, corresponding with famiy and friends, baking and cooking. Vera was a devout Christian and found great enjoyment and strength in her Lord. She is survived by One Son, George Patten of Northfield, NH and Two Daughters Lois Bretz and Valerie Klein both of Morrison, CO; Four Grandchildren Brandon, Cassandrea, Emily and Henry; Five Sisters Lois Kutschinske of Fargo, ND, Betty Kutschinske of Salem, OR, Shirley Kutschinske of Bismark, ND, Iola Youn of Billings, MO and Edna Eppenheimer of CA; Two Brothers Richard Kutschinske of Denver, CO and Robert Kutschinske of Spokane, WA. A memorial service will be announced later and hled at Dahlstrom's Funeral Home in Oakes, ND with interment following at Oakes View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either The Sol Gold Pancreatic Cancer Research Center, Attn: Dr. Ralph Hruban, John Hipkins Medical Institutions, 401 North Broadway, Weinberg 2242, Baltimore, MD 21231-2410 or Christ Lutheran Church, 2695 S Franklin St, Denver, 80210.
