Vermell Lavenia Fritz

January 4, 1958 — May 15, 2012

Vermell Lavenia Fritz took her place in Heaven on May 15, 2012 after a laborious fight with colon cancer at the young age of 54. Vermell believed that although she had cancer, cancer didn't have her. She had her husband and children fighting cancer with her until the very end. Vermell was a shoe fanatic who was very artistic and could fix anything. She could draw anything by sight and even paint it. She made the most beautiful jewelry. If she was wearing it, chances are, she made it. She loved purses and accessories. Whenever you saw her, she was dressed at her best, never without her earrings, necklaces, cute purses with shoes to match. She could take anything apart and put it back together. She was the mechanic in the house. She loved children, especially her own. If she took care of a child for any length of time, they became one of her own. Vermell was a former Aurora Public Schools staff member as a Preschool Paraeducator at Fitzsimmons CDC, Jewell, Paris and Peoria elementary schools. Vermell was with the district for 12 years. Vermell was everyone's favorite girl. As an only child, she was spoiled by her parents, Hattie Jean and Herb. Then as the only girl in the family for a long time, she was sheltered, protected and loved by her Aunts, Uncles and the Cousins that she always thought of as her Brothers. Skip, Derrick, Robbie, Vincent, Wardell and Elwood. When her little cousins Doll, Allen and Harriet came along, she still thought SHE was THE baby. She is survived by her husband, Charles, whom she met at the age of 5, when he asked her to be his girlfriend. They had their first wedding soon after. 50 years later, they were still together having successfully raised three children in their home which is known as Headquarters. Marquisha (Tyrone), Charles (Chahnuh) and Kimberle (Donald) gave her the grandchildren she was so boastful and proud of, Thelonious, Tynasia, Jalen, Aubrey, Calvin and Charles Jr. When Vermell married Charles, she gained the sisters she always wanted and never had; Donna, Debbie and Diane. She also inherited more brothers to spoil her, Cecil (Beetle), Kenny and Kevin. She loved her in-laws, Charlie and Sonny dearly. Vermell was preceded in death by her parents Hattie Jean and Herbert Roberson, as well as her father in law, Edward M. Fritz (Sonny). No one can agree on what will be the thing that is missed the most about Vermell. Her voice, her advice, her lemon butter pound cake with that icing that we all loved. Or her potato salad that can't be duplicated no matter how hard we try. The one thing we can all say is that our lives will be empty without the presence of Vermell. She will be remembered by all that met her. The celebration of Vermell's life will begin to take place with a viewing at Horan and McConaty in Aurora, Colorado at 11150 E Dartmouth Ave 80014 for friends and family on Monday from 5 PM to 7 PM and a Memorial Service at 10:00 A.M on Tuesday May 22, 2012. May we all be as strong in life and in death as was Vermell L. Fritz.
