Vernon D. Luft

Vernon D. Luft was born February 5, 1931 in Burlingame, KS. His parents were Carl Luft and Goldie May Luft. He was the middle of 5 children: John, Helen, Vernon, Faye, George. Vernon attended Arriba High School where he lettered in Football and graduated in May 1952. He joined the Army and went to Camp Roberts, CA to complete his basic training. He was then sent to Korea where he fought in the Korean War from September 12, 1952 until July 7, 1954 when he was honorably discharged from the Army. While he was in the Army, he had earned the title of Sergeant and received several medals/commendations including the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star and United Nations Service Medal. When Vernon was discharged from the Army, he moved to Waverly, KS where he worked at the lumberyard and married Lynne Irene Perry in 1959. They had 2 daughters, Belinda Jean Luft (born April 10, 1960) and Tracy Collene Luft (born June 8, 1961). In 1964, Vernon and Lynne decided to move their family to Greeley, CO where Vernon continued to work at a lumberyard. In 1965, Vernon and Lynne were divorced. Vernon then met Jeanette Elaine (Farlow) Lamson and married her July 15, 1967. On October 15, 1968, Vernon adopted Jeanette's children: Julaine (Jill) Denise Lamson, born May 26, 1957 Jerry Kent Lamson, born January 17, 1959 Joleen (Jodi) Ann Lamson, born February 15, 1960 Jennifer (Pete) Maureen Lamson, born December 1, 1962 Vernon and Jeanette moved to Arvada, CO in 1970 where they bought a house and some land. The family still lives in that house today. Vernon passed away February 4, 2016 surrounded by his family. Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Goldie, his brother John and sister Faye. He is survived by his sister Helen and brother George, his wife Jeanette, son Jerry, and daughters Belinda, Tracy, Jill, Jody, and Pete. He also has 16 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren. A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 starting at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service Honoring Vernon will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 12:00 PM, both at Horan & McConaty, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. The Interment will follow the Funeral Service at Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
