Victor Conrad Oltrogge was born on December 24, 1931, in Eureka, Illinois to Victor Christopher Oltrogge and Electa Murrel (Zehr) Oltrogge. He was the second of four children in the family, the first being Jessie Faith Oltrogge (later changed to Faith Jeanine (Oltrogge) Taussig (deceased), and followed by David Frederick and Reuben Dexter (later changed to Terry Dexter - deceased). Vic passed away on December 27, 2020.
He lived in Minonk, Illinois; Waverly, Iowa; Omaha, Nebraska and Denver, Colorado, graduating from East Denver High School in 1950 (where his mother had graduated in 1924) whereupon he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1954. Four years later he completed Mechanical Engineering studies at the University of Colorado - Boulder, followed by additional studies at Pennsylvania State and Cornell Universities in thermodynamics and physical metallurgy. He was the Chief Thermodynamicist on the Titan I and II missile programs and was the holder of five (5) patents of his own.
He was married to Margaret Helen Nelson (deceased) in 1956 and they raised four children, Kirk David (deceased) b. 1959; Kathy Lynne (Nichols) b. 1962; twins Scott Nelson (wife Tina) and Sherie Lea (Perlan - husband Loren) b. 1964. He had 11 grandchildren; Justin, Michael, Brandon, Morgan, Christa, Cayla (deceased), Matthew, Caytlin, John, Grant, and Cyleigh, and 1 great-grandchild; Kenneth.
Vic was a member of Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church, a former deacon at Trinity Baptist Church, and was a joyfully committed Christian.
Memorial Service is on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 2pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado 80003.
