On February 17, 2016, Victoria Jo. (Vickie) Alfs (nee Shortino), 61 glimmering years young, of Evergreen, Colorado was lifted into God's loving arms where the beauty of her soul will shine eternally in all of His glory. Vickie is survived by her husband Larry Alfs, son Jeremiah Alfs, daughter Jennifer Alfs, mother Marguerite Jo. Shortino, brothers and sisters Paul Shortino, Vincetta Shortino, Rosemarie Shortino, Michael Shortino, Angela Shortino-Gonnerman, Vincent Shortino, Jr. and wife Sarah, Rita Jo. Saladino and husband John, sister-in-law Shari Cunningham, brother-in-law Mark Wheeler, 21 precious nieces and nephews, her aunts, uncles, cousins, and 3 grand-dogs. She is preceded in death by her father Vincent Shortino, and sister-in-law Laura Wheeler. Vickie was a gracious, loving wife, a proud, caring and protective mother, and the pillar of strength for her siblings, mother, and friends. She was a mother to all, spoiling every child she ever met with an abundance of gifts and candy, and the most trusted friend and confidant, especially to those in her close inner circle and far, far beyond. Her heart had no boundaries. Vickie never met an animal she did not like; always feeding the deer, fox, raccoon, elk, neighborhood dogs, and birds, her favorite being the hummingbird. She was an avid gardener, spending hours planting, growing, and nurturing her flowers. Her work ethic was second to none, dedicating herself to being the best at her job. She was a perfectionist in all that she did, rarely missing a day of work, and highly respected within the community of law. She spent 27 years in the legal field, fine-tuning her skills and was the best in her field. To say that she will be dearly missed is the grandest of understatements, but her legacy shall live on in the essence that was her, the beauty of her soul, the simple manner in which she lived her life, and her charitable ways, always giving to others before herself. Visitation services will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 21st at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday February 22nd at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4291 Evergreen Pkwy, Evergreen, CO. By honoring her memory and the abundance of her giving spirit, donations can be made to The Mission of Hope and Mercy Charity, St. Rafka Church, 2301 Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80214 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
