Victoria Gean Matarazzo

Victoria "" Vicky"" Gean Matarazzo was 68 years old when God held her in His arms and took her home on November 20th, 2017. Vicky was born in Floral Park, NY on September 21, 1949 to Anne Passaro and Louis Lipira. She was the loving wife of Dr. Joseph Matarazzo and devoted Mother to her 5 children and Nana to 12 grandchildren. She was a sister and friend to her brother and 2 sisters. Vicky's life was dedicated to her faith in God and her family and friends. She was an avid member of her church and bible study, serving others in the name of God. She was the glue that held our family together and centered her life around creating memories and traditions with her family. Vicky was also deeply passionate about coaching tennis. She coached tennis at Mullen High School for over a decade, leading her team to a state championship and being announced Colorado Coach of Year. She spent 20 years dedicating her her time and heart to Colorado Tennis Special Olympics. She was honored through many awards, including Outstanding Volunteer Special Olympics Hall of Fame 2000, Professional Tennis Registry Humanitarian of the Year 2009 and Colorado Hero of the Year 2017. Vicky always put others first and led by example. She was a woman of passion, with zest for life. She was patient, kind, motivating and most importantly she changed lives in a way that could never be reflected in words. She was truly an inspiration to our community. She will be so greatly missed. She is with her Savior and we will celebrate her life through the following services: Mon 11/27 4-6pm Visitation, Tues 11/28 12-2pm Visitation; 4-6pm Visitation; 7-8pm Rosary, Wed 11/29 11am Funeral, followed by Reception. The visitation will be held at Horan & McConaty at 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd Lakewood, CO. The Rosary and Funeral will be held at Notre Dame Church at 2190 S Sheridan Blvd Denver, CO. Vicky requested bright colors be worn in celebration of her life.
