Virginia ""Jean"" Marie Bouldin

May 2, 1923 — August 19, 2017

Virginia “Jean” Marie Bouldin, age 94, entered into the Gates of Heaven August 19, 2017. Virginia was born May 2, 1923 in Garfield, Utah, just outside Salt Lake City. She graduated from Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah, and soon after won a scholarship to Excelsis Beauty College. She worked as a cosmetologist in SLC and was a hand model for Revlon Nail Polish. She loved dancing and listening to the Big Bands at the Coconut Grove and Saltaire, and was gifted with a beautiful singing voice. While visiting her cousin in Denver, she met the love of her life, Leon E. Bouldin, at Lowry Air Force Base. In 1945, she married and moved to Denver, where she worked at the Brown Palace Hotel Salon. Their travels in the Air Force took them to California, Alaska, Texas, Colorado, and Norfolk, England. She continued her work as a cosmetologist, and later volunteered to do shut-in and hospital patients’ hair. She was a member of St. James Parish for 60+ years, and was a past President of Altar and Rosary, P.T.A., and Choir. Virginia and Leon had six children, Leon Jerry (Carol Sue), Christopher (deceased), Kenneth (Dawn), Ronald (Dana), Suzanne (Kirby) Smith, and Timothy (deceased); four grandchildren, Brittany (Elliot) Bouldin Long, Matthew Bouldin, Alexandra (Vance) Smith Rusley, and Victoria Smith; and one great grandchild, Campbell Long. She is survived by her sister Ann Otley, and sisters-in-laws, Barbara and Kathleen Vaculin, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Leon E. Bouldin; her brothers, (sisters-in-law), Otto, Jerry (Myrtle), Joseph, Frank (Mary Jane), and her sister (brothers-in-law), Lydia (Fred) Cvar and Jack Otley. Virginia loved and was devoted to her family, and her faith was a cornerstone in her life. We always said, “If you want a direct line to God, call Grandma B!” Her prayers are always answered, and her final prayer has been answered: she is at peace. A Recitation of the Rosary service will be held Sunday, August 27, at 5 p.m., at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel 5303 E. County Line Road Centennial, CO 80122 with visitation one hour prior to service. A Funeral Mass honoring her will be celebrated Monday, August 28, 10:30 a.m., St. James Catholic Church 1311 Oneida St, Denver, CO 80220. Interment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
