Virginia Mae Piraino Chenault, age 92, passed peacefully on May 9, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Virginia was born in 1930 in Houston, TX to proud Italian-American parents.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Willie Mae Piraino; and son Ken Chenault. She is survived by her daughter Carole Toelle and husband Brian; brother Sam Piraino; grandsons, Kenny Chenault and wife Diane, Ryan Toelle and wife Erica, and Patrick Toelle and fiancé Saray; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends; and her adopted family at Boulder Canyon Health & Rehab.
Virginia graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration. After graduation she worked as a secretary for Tenneco. She later earned a teaching certification and taught 1st and 2nd grades in Houston for four years. She transcribed audio recordings from the Houston court system. She later found her true calling as a real estate agent and broker, working the Houston area for over 30 years.
Virginia’s favorite activity was being with family and friends. She was an accomplished pianist. Her talents were cooking, gardening, crochet and watercolor painting. She lived in Texas, Pennsylvania and Colorado. Her favorite travel destinations included Italy, Canada, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.
Her smile, her laugh, her faithfulness to God, her welcoming disposition and her outward love of life will be greatly missed. She had a strong and loyal sense of love and devotion to her family, as well as to her close friends. Virginia is dearly missed by her family and friends.
A private memorial was held on May 17th at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home in Colorado.
