Virginia Rose Foote, 96. Passed away peacefully on March 8, 2021. She was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on December 8, 1924, the third daughter of Arthur and Helen Gotto. Virginia married Warren E. Foote on March 2, 1946 after waiting for him to come home from WWII. Warren and Virginia settled in Denver and had four children: Stephanie (the late Lloyd Wade), Julie, who predeceased her, (Dennis O’Hanlon), Mary Jean, and George (Sue). She has 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, all of whom loved her and enjoyed her sometimes acerbic wit and her cheese crisps. She and Warren were married for 64 years.
She was an active member of the St. Rose of Lima Parish for several decades, welcoming all the newly-assigned priests to her home to make sure they enjoyed their new posting. When she and Warren retired to the “west side” at Yale and Wadsworth, she enjoyed her retirement for another 25 years. Virginia was an accomplished seamstress and knitter, and loved to host and feed a crowd. Every year, she made two new outfits for the girls in the fall and two in the spring. She enjoyed visiting the mountains and staying at her cabin in Silverthorne. She was a longtime member of a bridge club, and also enjoyed taking friends and family members to the theater. She and Warren traveled extensively across the United States by car, and also throughout Europe. So much to say about a 96-year old woman, but mostly her home was warm and she loved her family without reservation and we loved her in return.
Virginia’s family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 10:30am at the Lakewood Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, located at 3101 S. At this time, the chapel at Horan McConaty is allowed to have 100 people with appropriate masks and distancing. Please come if you feel safe doing so. Only the immediate family is allowed at the cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Rose of Lima Parish , 1320 W. Nevada Pl., Denver, CO 80223 or a charity of your choice. She would surely approve.
