Virgina Elizabeth Kolbezen, 78, died peacefully at home in Littleton, Colorado on November 27, 2015. Survivors include two daughters: Deborah Sue Hughes (Daniel) and Mary Renee Reid (Kemp); three grandchildren: Crystal Victoria Simonton, Amber Elizabeth Lewis (Nicholas) and Joshua Dakota Hughes; and four great-children: Leif, Adelaide, Murphy and Nikita. Virginia was born on July 21, 1937 in Minot, North Dakota; after high school she moved to Colorado where she attended the University of Northern Colorado, majoring in Education and Music. Shortly thereafter, she met her first love, Frank James Kolbezen and they were married on March 31, 1957. Virginia was married to her second love, Jerry Holzman from 2004-2010. She was employed at JC Penney from 1972 until her retirement in 1999. She had worked her way up from a part time position at the snack bar to office manager. Virginia received her Bachelor's degree in Education from Rockmont College in 1981. She was active with Columbine Retirees and St. Philip Lutheran Church where she served on several committees and the church council. She enjoyed playing bridge, going to movies with friends and doing word puzzles. Virginia greatly loved music and played the French horn. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 3 at St. Philip Lutheran Church, 7531 S. Kendall Blvd., Littleton, Colorado, (303) 979-4491.
