Virginia Sullivan, 89, a long-time resident of Lakewood, Colorado, died peacefully in her home in Brighton on May 17, 2008. Virginia was born in Rochester, NY, to Arthur and Edna Madden, the fourth of six children. After graduating from the University of Rochester School of Nursing, Virginia joined the United States Army Nurse Corp as a Captain during WWII, and served in occupied Okinawa as a neuropsychiatric nurse. After the war, Virginia moved to Colorado where she married and raised four children. She continued working as a nurse until her retirement. Virginia enjoyed gardening, world travel, and was an accomplished artist. Interment is at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Virginia is survived by her brother, Robert Madden; her sister, Louise Brown; and four children, Deborah (Scott) Nicholson, Bruce (Linda) Sullivan, John Sullivan, and Kathleen (Pat) McMichael. She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
