Virginia Dignan Yoder

September 28, 1922 — February 19, 2016

Dorothy Virginia Dignan Yoder, 93, died peacefully February 19, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. She was born on September 28, 1922 in Rossyln Farms, PA to the late Ned and Marguerite Dignan. She is survived by her five children Margo and Tracy Yoder of Denver, Cindy Yoder of Polk, PA, John Yoder of Davis, CA and Heidi McClain of Boulder; grandchildren Ned and Brad McClain, and Jack and Sam Yoder; great grandchildren Claire and Ajax McClain, and brother-in-law Dana Chalfant of Gibsonia, PA. She is preceded in death by her two older sisters Margo Chalfant and Jane Roehm, the father of her children, mushroom farm scion John Yoder, and son-in-law Paul McClain. Virginia faithfully attended Saint Peter's of Butler and All Saints' of Jensen Beach, FL Episcopal churches. She graduated from Penn State University, and at the age of 55, received her Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. She was passionate about Paris, skiing, tennis, acting in the Butler Little Theater, writing poetry, and the fresh air of the Atlantic Ocean. She had a strong appreciation for nature and loved being outdoors. A generous woman, Virginia enjoyed setting an elegant table for her friends and family. Her warm radiance touched many, and Virginia will be dearly missed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, 1000 14th St, Denver, CO 80202.
