Wallace "Wally" Haugen

Wallace “Wally” Haugen, Sr, 96, of Arvada passed away on April 5, 2021 at Arvada Care and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born on December 24, 1924 in Minnesota. He was the son of Walter and Valborg (Hansen) Haugen.

Wally owned a landscaping company for 40 years.

Wally married Velaira Rinna in 1998.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He and Velaira escaped to the mountains on many camping trips, where they cooked up and thoroughly enjoyed eating the trout he caught. They continued these "get-a-ways"  the better part of their 23 years together.

Wally will be remembered for his many stories, western boots, cowboy hat and joking spirit.  Many times right up to his last months, nurses and friends would speak of how much he looked like John Wayne.

In addition to his wife of 23 years, Velaira, he is survived by his sister, Margie Brevig, his children, Wallace Haugen Jr (Diane),  Michael Haugen,  Scott Haugen  and Michele Lynes (Haugen) (Jeff),   his grandchildren, Jason Haugen, Stephen Knapp, Patricia Poussard (Haugen) (Jay), Kassandra Haugen, Jessica (Lynes)(Blake) , Marissa Lynes and Tyler Lynes, his step-children, David Rinna, Dennis Rinna (Mireya), Andra Coburn (Chris), his Step-grandchildren, Aaron Rinna, Melissa Rinna, Vanessa Yost (Gary), Daryl Coburn, Alec Coburn (Maryann), Erik Coburn and Lierra Coburn and many great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both his mother and father, brothers Robert and Roger, Son Wayne and Grandson Matthew.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 11:00am at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 7577 w. 80th Ave, Arvada, CO 80003
