Dr. Walter R. Schreck, age 77, passed away May 6, 2015. He was born February 22, 1938 in Palo Alto, California to Myrtle and Walter E. Schreck. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Donna Plusquellec Schreck. He was a loving father to Erich (Allyson) Schreck, Steve (Crystal) Schreck, Amy (Emilio) Valdez, Katie (Remington) Green, Cyndie (Shane) Stickel, Jennifer Schreck, and Gregg (Kristie) Hoffman. His 11 grandchildren will miss him; Melissa and Danielle Valdez, Ryan and Dean Stickel, Alexander and Aidan Schreck, Logan Schreck, Sophia and Austin Green, and Drew and Evan Kabat. Walt grew up in Menlo Park, California with his father and mother. He had no siblings, but he had many cousins. He attended Menlo Atherton High School before seeking his undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon Medical school and his internship followed at the same university. His residency was at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine. Moving to Colorado Springs with his family, he entered the army as a Captain in the medical unit of Ft. Carson. He spent a year as a Senior Registrar (resident) at New Castle General Hospital in Newcastle, England. He developed his love for skiing when he was in the army and determined to live his life in Colorado. He loved reading about history and played tennis on a regular basis. Something he loved the most was traveling with Donna and friends all over the world. They went to Turkey, Costa Rica, Germany and many other countries. His career as a urologist had him practice at Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center, Gates Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, and Rose Medical Center. Donna worked with him as a nurse providing expert care to their patients. He was respected and appreciated by all of his patients and colleagues. Walt will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Viewing, Wednesday, May 13th, 6-7 pm with a Vigil service to follow at 7 pm, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver.
