Wanda Campbell

June 4, 1936 — July 4, 2022

Thornton, CO

Wanda Fae Campbell of Thornton Colorado, passed away on July 4, 2022, from numerous health issues she has been struggling with for the last several years. She was surrounded by family members at the time of her passing. She was 86 years old.

Wanda was the first-born of seven children, to John S. & Grace T. Kenison on June 04, 1936, in Duchesne County UT, in northeastern UT. She grew up surrounded by family and extended family in the small communities around Altonah and Talmadge UT. When she was 12, she moved with her family to Provo UT, where she continued her schooling and helped with her younger brothers and sister. She attended Provo High School and obtained her GED in 1955.  Wanda supported and encouraged her children and grandchildren in additional educational opportunities, including a variety of programs as well as college.

She met and married Levell Thomas “Tom” Campbell on December 9, 1953. During their more than 68 years together, they lived in Utah, Montana, California, Idaho, Texas, and Colorado, with most of that time in Colorado. She loved the mountains and going for a ride, especially when the leaves changed in the fall.  Wanda also enjoyed stopping to get an ice cream and exploring the many beautiful sites in all the places she and Tom lived.

Wanda loved her family fiercely and welcomed all into her home.  She loved to cook, garden, shop, crochet and make quilts.  She made afghans for just about everyone in the family, including smaller ones for various pets over the years.  She loved family gatherings and pretty flowers.  She also made quilts and blankets for new mothers with limited resources, providing warmth and comfort for newborns.  She was a visiting teacher for her church, spreading gospel teachings and fellowship (as well as Christmas candies and cookies) to various members.
Wanda retired from Samsonite in 1999 after 25 years.  She worked at several other companies over the years, in various places she and Tom lived, but none as long as her time at Samsonite.

Wanda cherished her “lunch group” – a group of friends from church who met every few weeks for lunch at various restaurants.  The get togethers always lasted for a while, with lots of laughter and companionship.
