Wanda L. Phipps

Wanda Lee Phipps of Lander, Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Porter Hospice in Littleton, Colorado, following a brief illness. She was 77. She was born on November 28, 1931, in Belle Plaine, Kansas, the only child of Ralph and Velma (Brownlee) Willey. Raised on a farm, Wanda graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1949. She received her nursing degree from Wesley School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas. She married Dr. Charles Rex Phipps in 1952 in Kansas, in 1968 they moved their family to Lander, and were later divorced. Wanda enjoyed many years of nursing at the Wyoming State Training School. She was a member of the Lander Does, the United Methodist Church, and was an active member of the United Methodist Women. Wanda was known as a fabulous cook, who found joy in cooking for, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her sons Dr. Doug and Charissa (Darby) Phipps of Lander, Wyoming, David and Debbi (Miller) Phipps of Littleton, Colorado, and a daughter, Debra Jo and Ray Bramlage of Topeka, Kansas. She is also survived by grandchildren Andrea Phipps Wood, Jeffrey Phipps, and Ashley Phipps Kozal, all of Littleton, Colorado, Kristin Phipps of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Courtney Phipps of Temp, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, and long time friend and companion, Al Robinson. A Celebration of Life followed by lunch, will be held Friday, April 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Lander, Wyoming.
