May 25, 1936 — April 2, 2025

Castle Rock, Colorado

Wanda Mae (Brungardt) Stewart, age 88, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at the Brookside Inn Nursing Home in Castle Rock, Colorado. Funeral services will be held on April 16, 2025, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2746 5th St., Castle Rock, CO, 80104. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., with interment of the ashes to follow at the Elizabeth Cemetery.

Wanda was born May 25, 1936, in Gorham, Kansas. She lived in Kansas during her childhood. When her family moved to Colorado, Wanda married her husband of 70 years, Junior “Ralph” Stewart, on August 14, 1952.

Wanda was not only a wife, mother, and grandmother during her life. She owned several businesses, including The Branding Iron Café and the Conoco Station, both of which are located in Elizabeth, Colorado. When she and Ralph were living in Limon, Colorado, Wanda co-owned and managed several rental properties with Ralph. During this time, Wanda was also a licensed manicurist at the Limon Family Hair Care salon and continued to enjoy giving manicures and pedicures to her family members once she and Ralph relocated back to Aurora, Colorado.

Wanda was also an artist. She loved sketching pictures of Disney characters and giving them to her grandchildren. There were always plenty of crayons and pencils for the grandchildren to draw with when they visited.

Wanda’s biggest joy was when family came to visit for holidays or just to chat. There was never a shortage of snacks or tasty treats, and when Wanda hosted a holiday meal, there was always a bounty of delicious food that never ran out.

Wanda is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Mae (Stewart) Geesen (Ed) and Diane Stewart; her son Jerry Stewart; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, Junior “Ralph” Stewart; her parents, Alexander J. and Silverina (Quint) Brungardt; her sisters Kathleen “Kay” (Brungardt) Bethel and Cora “Corky” (Brungardt) McHugh; and her brother Thomas A. Brungardt.
