Wanda Louise Thomas our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed on September 21, 2020. She left us peacefully at her home in Centennial, CO. She was 89.
Wanda married her beloved Jim Thomas in Oklahoma in 1948. They spent 59 years together until Jim’s passing in 2008.
Together they built their life raising 3 sons. They lived in Oklahoma and Arkansas before settling in Colorado where they truly enjoyed the magnificence of the mountains. The family spent as much time as possible at their cabin in SW Colorado enjoying fishing, hiking and exploring anything and everything in their International Harvester Scouts.
Wanda’s true passion was quilting. She hand-crafted countless pieces and was most proud of her quilts that were displayed at the Colorado State Capitol and one in particular that travelled to Japan as part of a world tour exhibit. Her quilting friends were her life blood and she cherished them deeply.
Most of all Wanda loved her family. She instilled in her sons strong family values, strength of character combined with uncanny wit and humor.
Preceding Wanda’s passing was her husband Jim, sons John and Larry and sister Carla Kyle.
Wanda is survived by her youngest son Dean (Julie), daughters in law Debbie Thomas (Larry) and Nancy Hankin (John), brother Richard Weaver (Maudie), granddaughters Kara and Kati, many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Wanda had a remarkable impact on everyone she met. Her spirit will carry on in all those she touched. Our sweet Wanda will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A private family celebration was held in Wanda’s honor.
