Wandalee Marie Brichacek

May 3, 1940 — April 20, 2016

Wandalee M. (Snyder) Brichacek was welcomed to the world on May 3, 1940 by her parents Alice M. (Spalding) and Ivan J. Snyder, and loving brother Duane in Emmett, Kansas. Wanda attended school in Emmett, Kansas until August of 1948 until Ivan and Alice decided to move their family back to their hometown of Lucas, Kansas. Wanda developed a great love of music and was devoted to learning to play several instruments. She received piano lessons in Lucas and organ lessons in Salina, Kansas. The clarinet, trombone and accordion were among some of the other instruments she mastered. On June 5, 1955 she was married to Nicholas Broska. Blessed to this union was one daughter, Karla Jo. They made their home in Russell, Kansas. She lived in both Wichita, Kansas and Hutchinson, Kansas before returning home again to Lucas. On May 11, 1983 she was united in marriage to Raymond D. ""Gus"" Brichacek. They remained in Lucas community until 1998 when they moved to Salina, Kansas. She was employed at the Schwann Food Company, retiring in 2010. In August, 2011 she moved to Broomfield, Colorado to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Wanda loved to entertain family and friends in her home. She loved cooking and baking and was eager to share her culinary creations with all. She enjoyed gardening, coin collecting, playing bingo and trying her hand at the casinos. She was fully devoted to her family and took great joy in preparing for family feasts and gatherings. She was an avid sports fan, with the Denver Broncos, Nuggets and Kansas City Royals being her favorite teams. She also closely followed KSU and KU football and basketball teams as well as NASCAR racing enthusiast. Wandalee leaves behind to celebrate her memory her daughter Karla and her husband Paul Catanzaro; grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Knudsen, Nathan Cunningham, Gigi (Jason) Montoya, Nicholas Catanzaro, Kendra (Chris) Kelly, Samantha Catanzaro, Paul ""Andy"" Catanzaro; great-grandchildren, Jill Cunningham, Janelle Knudsen, Blake Knudsen, Michael Cunningham, Jaylee Montoya, Krista Kelly and Jonathan Montoya; brother, Duane (Joyce) Snyder and many nieces, nephews and friends She will make her final journey home to Lucas and be laid to rest following the memorial service at the Lucas United Methodist Church in Lucas, Kansas on May 7, 2016 at 1:00 PM.
