Wayne Fredrick Hawkes passed away surrounded by his loved ones on April 10, 2020 at the age of 78.

Wayne was born May 20, 1941 in Parma Michigan, to parents Walter and Violet Hawkes, joining his sister Gloria. Often times, Gloria and Wayne were mistaken as twins, they look so much alike. The Hawkes family made the move to Blackhawk, Colorado, when Wayne was just a child. He liked to brag that he played on the school basketball team called the Tommyknockers. In his teen years his family moved to Denver, where he loved attending many dances in the area. While attending a dance Wayne found true love, in the spitfire, we all know as, Ricci. You would often find Wayne riding the bus across town to see Ricci, bringing her red-hot candied apples. Once he brought her a stuffed bear on the bus, bigger than Ricci. The two married and resided in Denver where he became a father to his son DeWayne and daughter Debra. The family later moved to a forever home in Aurora.

Wayne had two successful careers throughout his life. First at American Cyanamid followed by Tyson Chicken. He retired from Tyson in the year 2015, which was such a disappointment to all his grandchildren, who lived on their chicken nuggets. Wayne was a dedicated volunteer on the Denver Police Reserve for 5 years and on the Aurora Police Reserve for an additional 24 years.

From a young age Wayne loved cars, he shared this love with his son. However, Ricci thought DeWayne was a little young to be on a pit crew at Bandimere Speedway, he was only one. He did return to his passion of cars and went on to restore three different cars. He was featured in ""Hotline News"" in 1992, 1993, and 1994 for each of his restored cars. Wayne and Ricci traveled all over the states attending hotrod car shows with granddaughter Mallory. He was an outstanding member of the Good Guys car club for many years. His son and daughter will continue the tradition of attending his favorite car shows.

Wayne enjoyed celebrating with his family in their many accomplishments in life which included, Boy Scouts, weddings, graduations, holidays and the birth of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Other favorite times for Wayne included teasing his wife Ricci and going above and beyond whenever he was called upon. If Wayne was involved in anything, everything was going to be planned and prepped properly under his watchful Hawke eye. Wayne had an open heart for anyone who came into his life you would know it because he treated you like a family member. He shined that love upon nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and anyone who walked through the door.

Wayne felt so blessed by each addition of his grandchildren. The first grandchild to enter the world was Mallory, followed soon by her brothers Ryan, Eric, and Justin, Gary. He was also fortunate to have three great granddaughters. The first was Isabella, Bella who became his new partner in crime to wreak havoc on Ricci. Then came Charlotte and Peyton to round out our crazy bunch. We know he will always be there to guide the rest that arrive in his absence. Thankfully, he taught enough of the grandkids troublesome tricks to pass down for many generations.

Wayne's legacy will be brought to life by family left behind. Wife Ricci Hawkes, son DeWayne (Jenny) Hawkes, daughter Debra (Greg) Dinkel. Grandchildren Mallory, Eric (Sam), Ryan (Britanie) Dinkel and Justin (Dani), Gary Hawkes, Karrie Hawkes. Great grandchildren; Isabella, Charlotte, Peyton and Harper, His loving sister Gloria (Russell) Rosales. Nieces and Nephews Mark, Kim and Kenneth Rosales, as well as, Lorraine, Hope, Michael, Leonard and Chuck Aragon.
