Wayne, 88, passed away peacefully in his home December 2, 2013. He remained vital and active up to his last day on earth. Beloved father of Lisa S. (David) Hansen of Aurora, CO, Nancy (Doug) Cox of Normal, IL, and Ann Jessen of Denver, CO; proud grandfather of Jacob and Lindsey Hansen, and Brandt and Maison Cox; and uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by a great group of devoted, helpful neighbors. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Elizabeth; and was the last surviving of his three siblings, Naomi Wilkening, Ruth Hunt, and Irving Jessen. He was a Navy veteran during WWII, serving on the USS Robinson. He was a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. His career began in Des Moines, IA with Northwestern Bell. He transferred to New York City to work with AT&T where he helped develop the first electronic switching system manual. He transferred to Omaha, NE in the late 60's where he finished his career with Northwestern Bell. After he ""retired"", he went to work for two years in Saudi Arabia for Aramco Oil Company developing their emergency communication system. He and Elizabeth moved to Aurora, CO in 1990. They were both members of Bethany Lutheran Church in Denver. He prided himself in keeping current with the growth in the Telecommunications industry. Memorial Service Monday, December 23, 10 AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora.
