Wayne N. Worland

March 2, 1926 — May 17, 2017

Wayne N. Worland, quietly passed away on Wednesday, May 17, while holding the hand of his beloved wife of 68 years. Wayne was born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 2, 1926 to Harry and Berniece Worland. He joined the Navy in 1944 and served as a signalman until his honorable discharge in 1946. Wayne and Betty Sue Shockey were married on August 20, 1948. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America attaining rank of Eagle Scout, and served as a Scoutmaster in Raytown, MO from 1952-60. Wayne, Betty and children, Mark and Kathy, moved to Colorado in 1965. Wayne was the District Manager for American Greetings Corp. from 1965 until his retirement in 1984. Wayne and Betty moved to Longmont, Colorado, in 1984 until moving to Westminster, Colorado in 2016. Wayne was an active member of Longs Peak United Methodist Church serving as an usher for many years. He loved to travel, camp, fish, ski and golf, and was an avid ""Sunday afternoon"" sports buff cheering on football or baseball teams depending on the season. Wayne is survived by wife, Betty; son, Mark; daughter, Kathy; son-in-law, Gary; granddaughters, Amanda, Sara and Stephanie; grandson-in-law, Clay; and great grandchildren, Bailie and William. He will be dearly missed. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Longs Peak United Methodist Church, 1421 Elmhurst, Longmont, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to: Boy Scouts of America 10455 W. 6th Avenue Lakewood, Colorado 80215 or a veterans non-profit of your choice.
