Wilfred A. ""Bill"" Lyons Jr.

July 17, 1940 — November 6, 2018

Wilfred A. (Bill) Lyons Jr. was born July 17, 1940 in Sioux City, Iowa, and Died in his
home surround by family on November 6, 2018 in Highlands Ranch, Colorado
He was the first born of Wilfred A. Lyons Sr. and Rosamond soon after came his
brothers Robert, Barton and Bruce. His family then moved to Sidney, Nebraska, where
he worked with his father at Lyons-Buick, selling and servicing cars. At a young age he
met and married his first wife, Roberta, where he was blessed with his first three
children, Tina, Jimmy and Kathy.
He was drafted into the Army in 1967 where he was stationed in Korea, then he was
transferred to Colorado and honorably discharged. In Colorado he met and married his
current wife Mary, and embraced her daughter Deborah as his own. They were blessed
with three more children, Robert, Dawn, and Melanie In the early eighties the family
welcomed Robert’s close friend Damon Abeyta to the family as one of their own. Bill
took great pride in caring for and supporting his family even working three jobs for
several years. He was the type of man to give everything he had, even if he had to go
without.
While working in sales and the automotive field, he found that his true passion was
playing the piano as “Mr. Rag Time”. He played gigs every weekend at nursing homes,
in central city, and private parties until he was no longer able. He always watched the
Denver Broncos, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Nascar. After retirement he was content
in staying home, playing board games and spending time with his family. He was greatly
loved and will be missed more than he would ever know.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Lyons; five daughters, Tina Lyons of
Louisiana, Kathy Lyons of Idaho, Deborah (Michael) Shannon of Colorado, Dawn
(Brian) Murphy of Colorado, Melanie (Robbie) Muck of Colorado and Son Damon
Abeyta of Colorado; one Brother Bruce (Kimberly) Lyons of Nebraska; five
Grandchildren, David and Victoria Murphy, Hope and Amanda Shannon, and Jonathan
Abeyta; as well as many nieces.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Rosamond Lyons; Brothers,
Robert and Barton; and Sons, Robert and Jimmy.
At 9:00 AM Thursday November 15th, a prayer service will be held at the Lakewood
Mile High Vineyard Church, located at 6800 West Hampden Avenue, Lakewood, CO
80227.
At 11:15 AM Thursday November 15th, the Graveside Committal & Interment service
will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, located at 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard,
Denver, CO 80236.
A reception for family and friends will follow back at the Lakewood Vineyard
