Wilhelm ""Bill"" Doerksen

March 26, 1922 — December 27, 2012

Wilhelm C Doerksen, (Pastor Bill Doerksen as known to all) was born in Meade, Kansas on March 26, 1922. He went to be in the presence of the Lord on the morning of Thursday, December 27, 2012. He was born to Bernhardt (BH) Doerksen and Marie F (Classen) Doerksen and was the oldest of seven siblings. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rubena Esther (Harder) Doerksen, two daughters, Sharon Dahlenburg and Linda Doerksen-Roy and their spouses, Ken Dahlenburg and James W. Roy Sr. Four grandchildren, Sharla Hennecke, Skylar Dahlenburg and his spouse Erin Dahlenburg, Alissa Prieb and her spouse Ryan Prieb and Rebecca Allen. He also has three step-grandchildren, James Roy II, Amanda Roy and Jason Roy. He was the greatgrandfather of Ariana Dahlenburg, Brienna Dahlenburg, Rylee Hennecke and a new step great grandbaby, Jacob Theodore Roy. Bill is also survived by his two sisters, Tena (Doerksen) Ediger and her spouse Walter Ediger and Helen (Doerksen)Ediger. Preceding Bill in death were his siblings, Adena Nachtigal, Henry ""Hank"" Doerksen, Ben Doerksen, and Pete Doerksen and a grandson, Jason Allen. Bill met his wife Rubena as he was following the wheat harvest from Kansas to Nebraska when he went to the wrong farmhouse and saw his future wife, Rubena on the porch reading her Bible outside the family home. Since he felt the leading of the Lord to be a minister, Rubena impressed him immediately and he was smitten. Soon Rubena went to Meade, Kansas to meet Bill's family and on the train back to Nebraska, they came to Denver and went to the Denver Zoo. While at the Denver Zoo, Bill asked Rubena to be his wife and obviously she said yes. Pastor Bill Doerksen and his wife Rubena served in the following churches together over the years: Friant, California near Fresno, California 1959-1962. Beacon Light in Madera, California 1973-1976. Chowchilla 1st Southern Baptist 1976-1985. Susanville 1st Southern Baptist 1985-1999 and served to build up a church in Westwood, California and also continued to serve in his retirement in Susanville up until moving to Aurora, Colorado in September of 2006. He also accomplished setting up and coordinating a Chaplaincy in the hospital while serving in Chowchilla, California. which was an accomplishment that he was very proud of. He was also very proud that he had the honor of baptizing all of his grandchildren by which was extremely important to him. He will be extremely missed by all for his smile and love for family people radiated Jesus Christ and drew all to him. He is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and as he said before his departure, ""Don't have anyone say how good I've been, but only say how good the Lord has been. When I get to Heaven, I will fall prostrate at His feet"". A Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 4-6 pm, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 2 pm, Mississippi Baptist, 13231 East Mississippi Avenue, Aurora. Burial will take place at Countryside Cemetery in Meade, KS.
