William H. Baumhauer

William H. Baumhauer, 66, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away August 12, 2014, in Lenoir City, Tennessee. He was born May 7, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Henry Joseph Baumhauer and Mary Metro Baumhauer. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Stacey Delaney Baumhauer; children Kenneth William Baumhauer, (Dallas, TX), Kimberly Ann Baumhauer-Johnson, (Dayton, OH), and Shayna Delaney Baumhauer, (Denver, CO); mother Mary Metro Baumhauer, (Lakewood, CO); and three grandchildren Katrell, Kateya & Korinne. At the time of his passing, Mr. Baumhauer was chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors of The Egg and I Restaurants and chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors of E&I Restaurants, Inc. After graduation from high school, he attended the United States Air Force Academy for three years prior to graduating from Florida Atlantic University with an accounting degree in 1971. Mr. Baumhauer began his career as a CPA with Laventhol and Horwath in West Palm Beach, Florida, and was later named partner of the firm. Prior to his leadership with The Egg and I, Mr. Baumhauer was president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors of Champps Entertainment, Inc., president and chief operating officer of Planet Hollywood, Inc., president and chief operating officer, and then as chairman of the board of directors, president and chief executive officer of Daka International, Inc., and executive vice president, then as chairman of the board of directors, president and chief executive officer of Fuddruckers, Inc. Additionally, Mr. Baumhauer was involved with Linden Capital Partners of Chicago, IL for several years as an active board member for many of their acquisitions. Mr. Baumhauer was active within the restaurant industry and was the recipient of numerous awards and recognition for his work. His charity involvement included The United Way, BRTA (Business Responds to AIDS), Girls Inc. and St. Mary's Academy of Denver Colorado. Mr. Baumhauer also served on HOA boards in Florida and Colorado. Much of his free time was spent aboard his boat and behind the wheel of his sports car. Mr. Baumhauer loved the water, and his hobbies included boating and water sports. He also was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, bicycling, hiking, skiing and playing tennis. His passion for travel took him to many scenic places all over the world. Most importantly, Mr. Baumhauer was a devoted, loving and supportive husband, son and father. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, 1:00 PM, Mission Hills Church, 620 Southpark Dr., Littleton, CO 80120. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to The American Cancer Society, 2255 S. Oneida St., Denver, CO 80224, in memory of Mr. Baumhauer.
