William Belt

William Raymond Belt, age 75 of Aurora, Colorado, passed away to his heavenly home at Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, Colorado surrounded by his family on December 14, 2022.

A Christian Memorial Service will be held in Aurora, Colorado at St. Paul Presbyterian Church at a later date with Pastor Kim Graber officiating. Horan and McConaty Funeral Home of Aurora, Colorado was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Bill was born on May 5, 1947 to parents Raymond Lee Belt and Caroline Delores (Schwanz) Belt at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. Bill grew up in Wall Lake, Iowa attending school, K-12, at Wall Lake Community High School. He graduated with the class of 1966. After Graduation, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy from 1966-1972, serving on the USS Kearsarge CVS-33 and the USS Hornet CVS-12.

Bill was baptized into the Presbyterian faith as a child and remained true to that faith until his death.

Bill married Marsha Sue Janssen while on leave on May 3, 1968 at the First Presbyterian Church in Odebolt, Iowa. They returned to California where he was stationed at Long Beach until his honorable discharge at Bremerton, Washington. To this marriage, the Lord blessed them with two sons; Troy William and Jamison Aaron. Together they raised their family in Colorado. Bill loved his family unconditionally, as well as their miniature schnauzer, Sammie.

Bill took much pride in his vehicles, especially his 2010 SS Camaro and his 1997 and 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickups. Bill provided for his family by working two jobs at first, then he started working for the city of Aurora, advancing to Superintendent of Storm Drain Department. Bill retired in 2009 from the city of Aurora and worked for Par Electric for ten more years, retiring again in 2019.  Bill enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed camping trips with his family to Lake McConaughy in Nebraska and hunting deer and elk in the Colorado mountains.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Marsha of Aurora, Colorado; sons Troy (Cynthia) Belt of Aurora and Jamison (Mary) of Greeley, Colorado; grandchildren Darion and special friend Rachel, Devon and special friend Baylee and Dalton Belt of Aurora, Colorado, Tucker, Presley, Jackson, Sheldon, Caroline and Branson Belt of Greeley, Colorado; sisters, Wanita (Virgene) Friedrichsen of Odebolt, Iowa, Wanda Hawks and special friend Brian Brotherson of Lake View, Iowa, Wynona (Brent) Becker of Wall Lake, Iowa and brother Robert (Bridget) Belt of Carnarvon, Iowa; Brother in Law Greg and Sister in Law Gail Cranston of Yuma, Colorado, Brother in Law Dick and Sister in Law Kay Bloyer of Odebolt, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Caroline Belt; Mother and Father in Law Reinard and Sylvia Janssen; Brother in Law Grant Janssen; Sister in Law Cathy Bloyer; niece Anna Marie and nephews Timothy (TJ) and Michael Friedrichsen.
