William Cunningham

Cunningham, William Francis, Jr. February 9, 1931- August 17, 2022 Age 91

Born in Holyoke, MA, son of William F. Sr and Constance (Cox) Cunningham. Graduated from Holyoke Catholic High, Holy Cross University, Boston College and Pittsburgh University. As a teacher he worked teaching 18th Century Literature at Duquesne University (PA)and Le Moyne College. It was in the move to LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY that Bill and his wife began their family. In 1978, the Cunningham’s moved across the country to Omaha, NE where Bill would begin his work in college administration. At Creighton University Bill was the Dean of Arts and Sciences and later VP of Academic Affairs and Assistant to the President. Jesuit Education was dear to his heart and he carried these values to people he met in his life. Bill was a worldwide traveler, with a special place in his heart for London, England. He was a member of Rotary Club,Creighton University Greybackers and a long time parishioner of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his sister and his wife, Eleanor. He leaves behind his brother John Cunningham, children Margaret (Bob) Keearns of Hot Springs Village, AR, Bill of Denver, CO and Mary (Steve) Hoff of Denver, CO.  He also leaves six grandchildren and two great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Creighton University in the name of William F. Cunningham, Jr.
