William David Weller Jr., age 75, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025. Born February 20, 1949 Dave lived a life full of accomplishments, adventure, and love.
A dedicated geophysicist, Dave graduated from the Colorado School of Mines, where he set the stage for a distinguished career in the oil and gas industry. His love of geology and passion for exploration kept him working into his seventies. Dave was known for his curiosity and intellect. He loved sharing his experience and knowledge with the next generation of geologists and engineers.
Outside of his professional life, Dave found joy in a variety of hobbies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, often spending time at his cabin to enjoy nature’s beauty. He and Vicki enjoyed 41 years of marriage and developed many long-term friendships along the way. They loved golfing with friends and always had a project going. Dave’s favorites were gardening and home renovations. He was always eager to take on a new challenge at his own home or one of the kid’s homes. Above all, Dave cherished the time spent with his family. No matter the activity, Dave would want to be there to support them. His other joy was spending time with his grandchildren, Brooke and William. They brought him immense joy and he loved every moment with them.
Dave is survived by his wife, Vicki; children, Ryan, Howie, Matthew and wife Linsey; grandchildren, Brooke and William; his sister Joan Turnell (Jim Bruck), brother Jim (Ginny), brother Ron (Madeleine), nieces, nephews, along with other family and the many dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
