William Patrick Draper

William (Bill) Patrick Draper, passed in his home on February 11, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 88. He was born in Ft. Collins, CO in 1923 and served in WW II in the U.S. Coast Guard (1942-1945). While he was on leave in 1943, he met his wife, Shirley Hohing. After 4 dates he returned on leave and they married July 18, 1945. After 67 years of marriage, they often commented on their growing confidence that their marriage might just work out. Bill retired as a Lieutenant with the Denver Police Department after a 31 year career. He is survived by his son Francis W. Draper, and daughters Barbara Lehr, Victoria Martin, Patricia Schlotter, two grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He passed 4 days following the death of his wife, Shirley. A joint service will be held for Bill and Shirley Thursday, February 16, 2012, 9:00 AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado 80227.
