William ""Bill"" Fisher

June 18, 1931 — April 3, 2014

Bill was born June 18, 1931 in Denver and in 1951 he married his high school sweetheart Iris Faller. They lived in Denver and both attended South High School. Not long after their marriage Bill was called into active service in the US Navy serving in Korea alongside some of his high school buddies In 1953 Bill started his career with United Air Lines where he was an aircraft mechanic, a job which he enjoyed very much. Bill held several different positions with United and at the time he retired he was working at the UAL Training Center in a small specialists shop affectionately known as the ""Hobby Shop"" where he and just a select few qualified people worked on a multitude of different projects related to safety and training. Many of his co workers remain good friends still today. Bill had many interests that he was passionate about including Traveling, Camping, Boating, Water Skiing, Racquetball, and he was an avid Cyclist. He loved the outdoors and spent many weekends camping in the Colorado mountains. After he took up cycling he would think nothing of going on a 30 or 40 mile bike ride and he had completed several 100 mile bike rides for charities. He loved Big Band Music, from Sinatra to Glen Miller, Bill loved the true classics from the big band era. Traveling was one of his big pleasures and he and Iris took many trips with family and with friends. From vacation on the beaches of Miami or Hawaii to the fiords of Alaska they were always either on a trip or planning a new one. Like many of his airline mechanic friends Bill loved to fix or improve everything. There was not a single repair he could not accomplish around the house or on a vehicle. In the early 1950's Bill hand built a waterskiing boat at home in the garage. He then hand made water skis for the family and patiently taught the whole family to ski. Bill left his custom touches apparent in every home he lived in. From a beautiful hand made stained glass door to custom flower boxes in every window he loved to build and improve his homes. Most important of all to Bill was his family and God. He was a dedicated family man with a very large extended family whom he loved dearly and they all dearly love him. He was many nieces and nephews favorite ""Uncle Bill"" and how he loved to tease those kids! For years Bill struggled with painful health issues without complaint. He was always concerned for others above his own self and always willing to help others. Bill loved to joke and laugh. He was a very generous, giving and loving man who will be missed by many. Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Iris Faller Fisher, his two sons Michael and Bob Fisher and his sister Alice Fisher Shields. ""We can't feel saddened over the loss of those we love without first remembering the joy of loving them. The real sadness would have been in never having had them in our lives at all. Remembering is a journey the heart takes. Each time we remember we meet again with those we love, for the heart never forgets""
