William K. Gibson

Bill passed away March 16, 2010. Born June 22, 1928 in Gibson (Hooper County), Colorado, located in the San Luis Valley. He was a medic in the U.S. Navy then graduated in 1952 from the University of Colorado with a Business Adminstration degree. He married Denver native, Jane Akerlow. They had three children and lived in several cities in Colorado, Ohio, New York, Illinois, West Virginia, and Puerto Rico while Bill worked in Employee Relations for Union Carbide Corporation. After Bill retired in 1986 he and Jane moved back to Colorado. He stayed active as a Director of the Union Carbide Retiree Corporation and Director of Elk Falls Ranch. Golf was his passion and he enjoyed fishing, investing, traveling and playing bridge. But those never took second place to spending time with his family. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane, of 57 years, last September. He will be greatly missed by his children Barb Ulsund and her husband, Dan, Bill, Jr., DDS and his wife, Anne, and Julie Swank and her husband, Tom. He was very proud of his grandchildren Laura Eklund and her husband, Matt, William Ulsund, Eric Ulsund, Ryan Williams, Gregory Gibson, Andrew Gibson, Katie Swank and Michael Swank; and great grandchildren Andrew and Maya Ulsund. He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother. A Memorial Service in his honor will be Saturday, March 27, 1:00 PM at Christ Episcopal Church, 2950 South University Blvd. Denver, CO 80210. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or Leukemia Society, 5353 W. Dartmouth Ave., Suite 400, Denver, CO 80227.
