William Joseph MacLennan

March 11, 1949 — May 7, 2010

On May 7, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, William Joseph MacLennan, 61, returned to our Heavenly Father. Bill lived his life like he played basdeball - he did it with all his heart and he won the hearts of those who watched him from the stands. A native of Leadville, CO and the son of John and Zemina MacLennan, Bill was the kind of friend you want to have. He devoted his time, talents and resources in service to his friends, neighbors and family. He was well respected among his business colleagues and was a hardworking entrepreneur who acted with personal integrity. As a young man he lived every boys dream, playing baseball for Mesa College and then a Triple A team - the Golden Eagles. A veteran of the armed forces, he honorably served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. Bill was a 32nd Degre Masonic Brother of the Weston #22 Masonic Lodge and a member of the Scottish Rite. Most of all, Bill dearly loved and was loved by all of his family and wanted to make sure that they were aware of his love and devotion to them as a husband, father, grandfather and friend. We will miss the example of his courage and the power of his life, but look forward to the hope of a glorious reunion. Bill's faith in our Heavenly Father and the sacrifice of our savior, Jesus Chirst, was strong and he lived his life in a manner to be worthy of returning to their presence. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and brother, John MacLennan. He is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Michael; stepchildren, Lynsey (Ben) Humphries and Collin Hansen; grandson, Joseph Humphries; brother, Jerry; Sister-In-Law, Pam; nephew, John; and a host of other family members. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 14, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6705 So. Webster Street, Littleton, CO. Flowers should be directed to Horan & McConaty, 3101 So. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO. If desired, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Univ. of Colo. Cancer Center, Mail to: Univ. of Colo.
