William “Skip” Outcalt   3/26/1947 - 4/9/2022

Skip Outcalt, whose legal name was William and who definitely never went by Bill (except to telemarketers), was born in Denver and lived his entire life in Englewood, CO, except for a stint with the US Navy at Pearl Harbor, proudly crouched in nuclear submarines and driving his convertible 1954 Corvette.

Skip had lots of good luck in his life: he was married to the girl of his dreams, his high school sweetheart, Debbie, for 52 years; he had a career he loved at the Colorado Department of Transportation; and he had two perfect children, Matt and Megan, (neither of whom obviously had anything to do with this obituary).  He was a mountain of a man with an innate ability to fix anything. He built houses, played sports, and shot guns.  He was always the winning factor in any game of “my dad is tougher than your dad”.  He elevated Christmas tree decoration to an art form and was entirely beholden to any cat who’d curl up on his lap and purr.  He was quick to lend his many skills and sage, albeit sometimes unsolicited, advice to any project you were working on.  He was the world’s biggest cheerleader, which resulted in disproportionate self-esteem in his children. To hold his hand or feel his hug was to know unconditional love.  He was a slinger of sarcasm, a voracious reader of books and absolutely hilarious.

Though we will never stop loving you or missing you, we know that when it’s time to go, if we’re waiting on you, we’re backing up.

Under emphatic instructions, memorial services will take the form of a party scheduled later this summer.   Details to follow.
