William Arthur Peterson ""Art"" of Denver, CO, age 92, passed away on January 20, 2009. He was born in West Point, Indiana to Closson Victor and Edna Peterson on December 19, 1916, moving to West Lafayette, Indiana when he was a child. He attended Indiana schools, graduating from Purdue University in 1938 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He lettered in golf and was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He married Ruth Owen in 1940 and lived in Edwardsville, Illinois and worked with Shell Oil Company until 1946 when they came to Denver to start an Engineering Sales Company, Landes, Zachary and Peterson of which he was President. He was also President of Beltronics, Inc. and Park Central Travel Company. He was President of the National Professional Engineers. Other affiliations were Colorado Society of Engineers, Air Force Quarterback Club and Treasurer Kiwanis Club of Denver, serving two terms on the Board of Directors. Art also served on the State Cemetery Board under Governors John Love and John Vanderhoof. He was a charter member of Columbine Country Club and founder of Denver Purdue University Alumni. He was a member of University Park United Methodist Church. Art and his wife were world travelers. Survived by his wife of 68 years Ruth Owen Peterson of Denver, CO, son William Robert Peterson and wife Luisa of Highlands Ranch, CO, daughter Jane Ruth Peterson Davis of Richmond, Vermont, grandson Kyle William Davis and wife Irina of Moscow, Russia, granddaughter Kristina Hardy of Highlands Ranch, CO. Preceded in death by grandson Joel Keith Davis, two brothers and three sisters. WHAT A GREAT DAD. We all love you and miss you. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009, at University Park United Methodist Church, 2180 South University Blvd., Denver, CO 80210 at 12 noon, in the Wasser Chapel, with Rev. Paul Kottke officiating. Inurnment will be private.
