LTC William Patrick Pitts, Sr., 83, of Englewood, Colorado passed away peacefully on October 16, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. The son of Lt Col William Thomas Pitts and Jane Patricia (Collins) Pitts, he was born in Golden, Colorado on August 11, 1932. He married Betty Jean Dyer on August 10, 1957 in Washington, Georgia. William was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Heidi Jean. He is survived by his wife; son William Jr. and wife, Lori; daughter Patricia Brooks; and four grandchildren: Stephen Pitts, Stephani Havris (Paul), Bailey Brooks and Morgan Brooks. William was a graduate of East High School in Denver and the University of Denver where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry and Pre-Medicine. He enlisted in the United States Army in November, 1956. He was stationed in Korea, served in the Vietnam War with a permanent change of station at the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. He retired as Lieutenant Colonel LTC of the Medical Service Corps in August 1978. William was a beloved husband, father and grandfather with a passion for horses and any sweet confection made with rich chocolate. He will be greatly missed. Private graveside services will be held Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
