William Gerard (Jerry) Push passed away peacefully in Highlands Ranch, Colorado on May 16, 2023, at the age of 88 surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born in La Porte, Indiana on January 29, 1935 to William C. Pusch and Margaret E. Pusch. During his formative years, Jerry became an avid outdoorsman and spent many days canoeing, camping, fishing and bird hunting in Indiana, Michigan, South Dakota, and Canada with his father and friends.
After graduating from La Porte High School in 1952, Jerry attended the University of Michigan and joined the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He graduated with honors in 1957. He initially intended to enroll at the University of Michigan Law School, his late father's alma mater, but at the last minute was drawn by the allure of the West Coast and enrolled in Stanford University Law School. While there, Jerry became a member of the Stanford Law Review and was named to the Order of the Coif upon graduation in 1960.
At that time, Jerry moved to Seattle to join the law firm now known as Davis Wright Tremaine (DWT) and became a partner in 1965. His long and successful career at DWT also involved management of the firm; he become the inaugural chair of the firm's business and corporate finance department in the mid 80's, and served on many committees, including the executive committee, for several years. Jerry was recognized by the Seattle legal community and by his clients for his professional acumen, hard work, integrity, and sound judgment. He was active in the American Bar Association and the Washington State Bar Association, and served on various partnership, legal opinion, and other committees. He also enjoyed devoting time to mentoring many younger lawyers throughout his tenure at DWT prior to retirement 2008, after 48 years at DWT.
In 1961, Jerry met Mikellanne (Anne) Peet and they married on June 1, 1963.
Together they had three children: Jeffrey W. Pusch, Gregory T. Pusch, and Anne Push Kresse. Jerry enjoyed sharing his passion for the outdoors with his family and spent many days skiing, camping, boating, fishing, and bird hunting with them throughout the Pacific Northwest. He also joined the Overlake Golf Club in Bellevue, Washington and rediscovered a love of golf which continued well into retirement when he and Mikellanne (Anne) moved to Palm Desert, California.
Once there, they enjoyed the abundant sunshine and the community at Indian Ridge Country Club until moving to Colorado in 2021.
Jerry was known for his soft-spoken, genuine demeanor, his quick wit, and his devotion to his family and friends. In quiet moments, he could often be found in front of a roaring fire, devouring a dense historical biography.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Mikellanne (Anne); his three children Jeff, Greg, and Anne, and his six grandchildren; Alexander Pusch, Natalie Pusch, Eric Pusch, Kathleen Pusch, Jackson Kresse and Kathryn Kresse.
All are welcome to join the family in the celebration of his life. A Memorial Mass will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday July 22nd at Horan & McConaty on County Line Road. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Jerry's memory to any charity of your personal choice.
