Bill passed away in St. Joseph Hospital on August 7, 2024. He was 87 years old.
Bill was born in the small rural town of Wetmore, Kansas. He was one of six children born to Kenneth Elvan and Mary Alice Kahle Rolfe. He grew up on a farm south of Circleville. He attended Sunny Slope rural school, a one room schoolhouse for grades one through eight. He was up early helping with chores before walking to school. Saturday mornings were spent in Holton, going to the movies, or roller skating. He then attended Circleville High School. He played six-man football and participated in all school activities. The senior trip that year was spent in Colorado Springs. He graduated from Circleville High School in 1965.
He joined the Air Force after graduation and served for three years in Puerto Rico as a B52 airplane mechanic. He attended school in the late sixties and was a pioneer working in Computer Science. He worked as a data base administrator, programmer, and system design engineer. He married Kay Marie Anderson in Colorado on August 4, 1970. Their lives were filled with fun, travel, and adventure. Bill built a Model T, that came into the garage as an axel and boxes. He coached the children and grandchildren during Little League Baseball seasons. Winning the state championship in 1983. He rode dirt bikes, loved reading, fishing, skiing, and camping in the mountains. He was not only an excellent mechanic; he could fix anything!
He always yearned for his life in the Kansas area, so in 2002 we moved to Kansas, bought a farm and built a house. We moved back to Colorado in 2009, lonely for the children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Maudie, (DeBusk), his brother Tom, and his brother Jim, also a step-son Thomas Anderson. He is survived by his sisters Carol (Haney), and Susan (Williams) both of Topeka, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
