William Henry Smith

William ""Bill"" Smith passed away September 12, 2012 in Denver, CO, after a lengthy illness. Bill was born May 4, 1959, in Cleveland, OH. After graduating from Cherry Creek High School he enlisted in the US Air Force serving with distinction in the post Vietnam era. After being honorably discharged from the service he enrolled in the University of Colorado. Upon graduation, Bill entered into the developing field of Information Technology (IT), working as a software engineer for cutting edge firms such as Case Logic and J.D. Edwards. Bill was the consummate entrepreneur spending the last ten years of his life developing prototypes and concepts in science, mathematics and space engineering. Bill was an active member of Mile High Church, Toastmasters Int'l and the CU Black Alumni Association. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria ""Dennis"" Smith and is survived by his father Alfred ""Al"" Smith, sisters, Kimberly A. Smith and Christiana Williams, nephew, Jaylon Fields and a host of loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Viewing will be from 11:00 AM - 12PM, prior to service. Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora CO 80014. There will be a reception after the service.
