William “Bill” Francis Allen, age 85, of Westminster, CO passed away on March 6, 2021 at Amberwood Court Care Center in Denver. Bill was born on January 29, 1936 in Steubenville, Ohio. He was the son of Alvia A. and Dorothy F. (Robinson) Allen. Bill married Suzanne Zascavage Caniff on December 15, 1977 in Pasco, Washington.
Immediate following high school graduation in 1953, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force. He trained and worked as a Radar Technician for four years. He returned to civilian life and worked a number of maintenance jobs, then acquired a career with the United States Post Office. He worked for 14 years before he and his family moved to Bozeman, MT where he worked as an electrician. After 7 years, he and his family relocated to the beautiful state of Colorado. Prior to retirement he worked as a maintenance engineer at Brook’s Towers in Denver.
One of Bill’s greatest pleasures was sitting by a calm body of water, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. Bill’s other endeavors included playing and coaching softball. He took his daughter’s softball team to third place in The Montana State Women’s Softball Tournament.
He will be remembered as “Mr. Bill” by a generation of neighborhood children and parents.
In addition to his wife, Suzanne, he is survived by his sister Audrey Jane "Bobbi" Allen and by his children: Kimberly Ann (Kevin) Drabick, Thomas Patrick (Vanessa) Caniff, Jean Louise (Lanelle) Allen, John David (Gillian) Allen, Sean Patrick (Jamie) Caniff, and Anne Marie (Ron) King. Grandchildren: Kara Louise Drabick, Keely Audrey Drabick, Taylor Cecilia Allen, Kaylinn Richelle Drabick, Michael William Allen, Logan Patrick Caniff, Caitlin Marie Caniff, Sean Francis King, and Alaina Maura King. Great-grandchildren: Sophia Logan Allen, Kiah Ann Pleise, and Sawyer James Conn.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alvia Arthur Allen and his mother, Dorothy Frances Robinson Allen, his maternal grandfather, William Francis Robinson, and his maternal grandmother Viola Taylor Robinson, his paternal grandfather William Kirkwood Allen, his paternal grandmother Bertha Mary Crossland Allen and one granddaughter, Kami Suzanne Drabick.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 10:00 am with a Service at 11:00 am at Horan & McConaty, 7577 W. 80th Ave. Arvada, CO 80003. In Lieu of flowers memorial gifts will be accepted in the name of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and DePaul School for Hearing and Speech.
