Pat Marx

Lone Tree, CO

William Patrick Marx, 78, died in his home in Lone Tree, CO on Sunday, February 13, 2022.

Pat was the husband of JoAnn Marx with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.

Born and raised in the Seattle, WA area, Pat headed to college at Montana School of Mines in Butte. With Bachelor of Science degrees in Engineering Science and Petroleum Engineering, he began his career in Billings, MT where he met JoAnn. His work took them to Casper, WY, and Tripoli, Libya in North Africa before returning to Billings for seven years. Pat and his family settled in the Denver area in 1981, where he continued working in the petroleum industry until his retirement.

Shortly after arriving in Denver, Pat and JoAnn met lifelong friends in a bridge group. He loved playing card games like bridge, cribbage, and Liverpool rummy with friends and family. When he wasn’t complaining about lousy cards, he enjoyed traveling locally and internationally with friends including several river cruises. Pat played golf in the summer and did puzzles in the winter and watched sports, especially the Rockies, all year long. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, and their sons Craig (Cathy) Marx of St Louis, MO, Chris (Holly) Marx of Castle Pines, CO, their daughter Michelle (Henry Tiberi) Marx of Golden, CO, and four grandchildren Ferron, Owen, Sullivan, and Elise. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother all of whom live in WA.

The family will be holding a small, private celebration of life at Horan & McConaty on Friday, March 4. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the National Autism Association.
